Pharmaceutical Opinion is a registered trademark deposited by the Ordre des pharmaciens (National Council of Pharmacists).
In order to be reputed compliant with the requirements of the Quality Assurance Commission of the Ordre des pharmaciens, the computerised process of the Pharmaceutical Opinion and the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up dossier must comply with the recommendations described in the specifications communicated to software service companies.
These companies and databases providers used retain total liberty in the augmentation, presentation and circulation of this computerised process, provided they comply with legal provisions, especially concerning the limits of pharmaceutical competence and the protection of individual data.
The purpose of the Ordre des pharmaciens is not to publish or certify software whose purchase is a private contract for pharmacists individual practice. On the other hand, the Ordre wishes to stress that pharmacists must demand, and providers propose and guarantee, software including not less than the functions described in the specifications. This ensures the ethical and scientific aspects of the process and also a standardised format of the Pharmaceutical Opinion and the follow-up.
